All of the files are in zip format. You will need a program such as WinZip to open them.

All of the Splash Screens are in BMP format. When unzipped, the BMP file will be the proper size to use. To install these splash screens, use Dell's Splash Utility. You will have to visit Dell's web site to get this program. The latest version is A02 and can be used with the following Dell Notebooks:

Inspiron 4150, Inspiron 4100, Inspiron 600m, Inspiron 500m, Inspiron 8200, Inspiron 3700, Inspiron 4000, Inspiron 8000, Inspiron 8500, Inspiron 9100, Inspiron 8100, Inspiron 3800, Latitude C840, Latitude C640, Latitude D600, Latitude CPtS, Latitude CPxJ, Latitude C810, Latitude CPtV, Latitude CPxH, Latitude CPtC, Latitude CPiR, Latitude D500, Latitude C510 / C610, Latitude C500 / C600, Latitude D800, Latitude C800, Latitude CS, Latitude CSx, Latitude C400, Latitude D400, Latitude CPiA, Precision M60, Precision M40, Precision M50

The Inspiron 5100 is not included in the above list but some users have said that this splash utility will work on the I5100. Dell Community Member askewview tried it and says "It works great :)". It now has been done by Dell Community Member Mandrake99.

spl2.exe works up through the I8600 and D800.

You can also create your own splash screen. It must adhere to the following specifications: 640 x 480, 16 colors, file size 153,720 bytes, Windows BMP file format
